BIRTHDAYS

Happy Birthday, little Mille! > > >
ANNUAL REPORT
In January the Beagles' beloved Granny decided to give up her country life, sell her car and move back into town. She was 84 years old, so it was probably the safest thing to do.
On February the 1st she signed the contract for an appartment in the house next to ours and thus became our neighbour.
The Beagles were very pleased, of course.
They are just on loan for a short while.
Old aunt Edda became an Angel Dog in February 28th.

| 9 April
In his first show as a veteran Tumle was nominated BIS-3.
Day and Site:9 april, Trolldal, Katrineholm.
Judge: Guy Karlsson.
Arrangement: Afghanringen.
After our homecoming we began to discuss whether the arranging club happened to mix up the cockards, or if there simply were none with the "proper" colour. SHOULD NOT the correct one have been yellow, not green?

17 June we went to Uppsala to collect Tumle's litter sister Bella, who because of her young master's allergy had to be moved into a new home.
If everything turns out as well, as we hope and believe, she will from now on be a part of our pack.

Bella, Tumle & Mille in Mogetorp, 23 June
Tumle's "foster mother" Hella made her last trip to the vet the 22rd of September. Hella turned ten years old in April, which is considerably older for a Weimaraner than it would be for a Beagle.
Hella was tired in the end and suffered a lot of aches and pains that made her life less pleasant to live - the last one a lump inside her throat, depriving her of her great interest in eating and begging for food. So Mummy made the decision to let her enjoy a dog's privilege: being spared from an unworthy life.

| | Tumle and Mille wore black ribbons today, in honour of their friend Hella, the most gentle grey dog in the world.

The first week in November Mummy started her new job in The Swedish HVAC Museum in Katrineholm. The Beagles got their own little room in the attic over the museum, where Mummy can come and pet them whenever she feels the urge. The attic is a storage room for lots of old junk which does not really fit in anywhere else, mainly because there are not enought space in the museum. Heaps and heaps of thrilling things for a Beagle to explore and also a tall winding staircase, as the attic is on the forth floor. They even learned to use the lift, for the first time in their lives, with no problems at all. See photos here!
Bella had a lousy time when her master Peter got a new job with only 36 minutes break for lunch, but later Granny took care of her a couple of hours every the afternoon and there she had the time of her life - a soft bed, little pleasant walks and bisquits, ginger bread and other nice things to eat, because of her sweet Beagle looks.

ALL KINDS OF HEALTH TROUBLE
(Considering the Beagles' health 2006 was not the best of years)
 |
| 6 March.
Minor surgery on both hounds.
Tumle had two atheromas removed, one from his eyelid and the other from the front of his neck, and Mille got rid of the ugly one under his eye and another from the left side of his neck.
Both hounds felt very tired and groggy all afternoon, but their cuts neither bled or ached, they did not have to wear collars and there really were no reason for Tumle´s grumpy looks. |
 |
| Tumle could, of course, not keep his paws away from his wounds. The wound on his eyelid got infected and he had to visit the vet again. Two drops of Fucithalmic a day for a week, was the presciption.
Eventually the collar had to be put on and the picture to the left shows a VERY DISPLEASED little hound. |
 |
| After one single day with Fucithalmic the swelling in Tumle´s eyelid was very much reduced and his eye seemed already a lot less sore than yesterday.

14 September. Mille and Bella were both to see the vet. Mille got rid of an irritating wart inside his ear and Bella had a lump removed and got her long nails shortened off.
Mille suffered a couple of months of repeated gastric problems, from the first week in September until the midst of November. It started with violent attacks of vomiting and diarrhoea, followed by a long period of nothing but morning sickness, when he had to be fed in 6-7 small, frequent portions a day, not to fill him up too much or let him wait too long for a meal.
He was getting no better. Neither his ulcer medicine nor diet food was making any difference, so it became rather obvious that the problem wss not in his stomach but in his anxious little soul.
In the second week of November a gastroscopy was performed. The vet made some biopsies and the diagnosis was "Cronical gastritis". After that he was suddenly well again, before I even got the time to start his cortisone treatment. Probably he was reacting on our own anxiety, due to lack of imployment and other financial difficulties, so we will try to spare him from to much stress in the future.
It is impossible to establish whether there is a connection or not, but during this year Mille had suffered 5 epileptic fits, compared to his usual 1 or 2. Two of them have been rather strong, so now we have got a prescription for a drug to break off long fits.
